Snow Day

Sweater, Jeans, Coat:Vintage (similar), Boots: Old (similar), Earrings: India Trip

Hey Everyone!! I'm back from my small hiatus. I know I know, I'm sorry. Something needed to give and getting dressed won out. Here's a little update of whats been happening.

Husband and I finally finished the stair project! Only two weeks behind schedule and two days before Thanksgiving. Needless to say it was a mad dash to get the house cleaned before guests arrived for the extended weekend.  Our furnace went out that same night. Just my luck. So the fabulous heating and air people came the next day only to tell me that my heating element was cracked in 4 places. Looking at the pictures I couldn't believe it but there were the cracks clear as day.  After weighing our options and a whole bottle of wine (solely consumed by me) Husband and I decided to replace the furnace. Only problem, it was the day before Thanksgiving at 9 o'clock at night.  There was just no way I was going to have heat for Thanksgiving. I started into bottle number two at this point. After a few phone calls we were finally on the install schedule for Monday. Monday people! I had guests coming into town and staying with me for the long weekend plus a slew of people coming over for dinner... with no heat.

It was a long weekend cuddled up in down blankets, filled with hot drinks and at times space heaters. We got the first snow of the year that weekend. Again just my luck. The one weekend I'm without heat it snows. I love the snow and the kids do as well. So the whole family, guests and all, jumped in the car and headed up to our favorite spot to play.  We were having so much fun until Bryce ran into the lake after a bird. Really! I started running towards him as soon as I saw his head bob up and down in the water and only made it half way before I sunk down into mud. It was a struggle to get out but I finally made it by crawling on my hands and knees. The whole in depth story is up on my Instagram (@januaryerskine) if you're interested.  It ends with me pant-less and shoe-less under a blanket the car ride home. It will be a very funny story in future years but I was not a happy camper in the moment. By the way Bryce is fine.  He was soaking wet and covered in mud. We wrapped him in a blanket for the ride home as well. He got a hot bath and cuddles the rest of the day.
Olivia loved playing with me in the snow.  I would toss small snow balls at her and she would jump out of the way or run towards them mouth open. She would run around, stop and face plant into the snow, rolling in it and eating it. It was beyond cute!

The only good news that came out of this long cold weekend was that my little sister is pregnant. She told the whole family at dinner Thanksgiving and I am beyond excited!!!!!!  I can't wait to meet the little one. I have to wait 6 more months but I'm counting down the days.  She could barely keep the news in and we have already gone crib and stroller shopping.  Babies first trip to the zoo will so be happening.

xoxo
