Frames: Thrifted, Spray PaintPhoto MatsCommand Strips

Hey everyone, I thought it might be fun to show you a little project I've been working on lately.  I was scrolling through Pinterest a few weeks back and came across a gorgeous gallery wall by a fellow blogger. I had been looking for inspiration for what to do with the wall in my stairs. I clicked on the Pinterest link only to find out that the product was way way out of my price range.  I couldn't believe the cost. For what I wanted to do it would have been hundreds of dollars. I'm sorry but that's ridiculous.  So I decided it was time to get my hands dirty and do it yourself. I started with a day of thrift store shopping and I was on the hunt for frames.  I came home with tons of different shapes, sizes and textures.  They were wood, metal and plastic but that didn't matter cause I was going to spray paint them all to match. My color of choice was Rustoleum's Gold Metallic Finish. I love how the color turned out. I loved the color and finish so much I actually spray painted some cheap looking coffee tables as well for my upstairs living room. But back to this project.  I wanted a classic elegant and expensive look for my wall so I found pre-cut photo mats at Joann's to go in each freshly painted frame. After everything was assembled it took no time at all to hang all my photos. I hate putting holes in my walls. I'm always changing things around or changing my mind so I rely on command strips to save the day.  It just makes life so much easier and if I don't like a frame its easy to remove and replace with no damage to my walls.

In the end I got exactly what I wanted for a fraction of the price of an expensive framing shop. Plus my version is expandable and it wont break the bank when I need to add a few more photos to my walls.

xoxo

  3. This looks amazing. I don't have stairs but I do have this awkward wall space that would be perfect for something like this. I love going and finding fancy ideas and doing them on a budget. Thanks for sharing :)

  5. I have been feeling inspired by Pinterest wall galleries and love how yours came out! I can't believe you thrifted all of your frames, and you did a great job spray painting them. I'll be saving this as inspiration for when I finally tackle my gallery wall.
